Tree care in Wayzata.

Wayzata has a tree removal permit process and two very different destinations for yard waste. Knowing the difference between the city compost site and the Plymouth brush site can save a wasted trip.

Tree removal has a permit step.

Wayzata’s Tree Removal and Treatment page states that removal of a tree 6 inches or greater in diameter at breast height requires a Tree Removal Permit. Check the city’s application requirements before arranging removal.

The city also requires contractors performing professional tree work in Wayzata to hold its local license, with city approval based on bond and insurance documentation. Confirm the current approved contractor list with the city; a permit and a contractor license are separate requirements.

Leaves here. Branches somewhere else.

For brush, the city directs residents to Plymouth.

Wayzata’s tree care page directs residents with brush to the Plymouth Yard Waste Site using a Wayzata driver’s license. That is a different facility from Wayzata’s compost site. Check Plymouth’s current seasonal schedule and material restrictions before hauling.
