Tree care in Minnetonka.

Minnetonka’s community forest extends from public parks into private yards. For homeowners, a good plan connects tree health, any site-development review, and a realistic route for brush and yard waste.

Resident drop-off does not cover contractor hauling.

Minnetonka’s Public Works drop-off facility is at 11522 Minnetonka Boulevard. The city offers seasonal brush, leaf and yard waste drop-off for Minnetonka residents.

The city explicitly excludes contractors from disposing of brush and yard waste there, even when the material came from a Minnetonka property. If you hire tree work with hauling included, agree on a separate disposal plan.

Brush and leaf drop-off schedules differ. Check the current city page for dates, hours, accepted materials and access requirements before taking a load. For curbside yard waste, the city says most garbage haulers offer collection for a fee.

A local resource for oak and elm concerns.

Minnetonka’s natural resources staff inspect trees citywide in summer and offer consultation to help diagnose oak wilt and Dutch elm disease. The Forestry page explains that a diseased tree may receive a notice with treatment or removal recommendations.

If you have received a city notice, share it when requesting an estimate. It helps connect the scope and timing of private work with the city’s recommendations.

Know the ash trees in your yard.

The city reports that emerald ash borer reached Minnetonka in 2019 and is now widespread locally. An ash tree that is declining deserves a timely discussion about its condition and options.

Ask Elijah about the tree health and injection services available for your situation. Species, condition and timing matter; a treatment request is not a promise that every tree can be saved.

Tree work connected to construction?

Minnetonka’s site-development guidance requires erosion-control and tree-protection fencing to be installed and inspected before a building permit is issued. If removal is part of grading or construction, speak with the city’s planning division about the project’s review before work begins.

Plan private tree care with Elijah.

Whether your goal is pruning a mature tree, removing storm-damaged wood, grinding a stump or discussing tree health, include photos and access details. Be clear about the branches, logs and cleanup you want included. Municipal drop-off access and a private contractor’s hauling arrangements are separate parts of the plan.
